Prompt. Market Street at the Woodlands is an award winning mixed-use town center located the Woodlands, TX. The town center features an open air shopping center filled with retail, restaurants, cinema, office and hotel space and is one of the nation’s top master-planned communities. Owned by Trademark Property Co. the Town Center offers the feel of a traditional town square with a central park and pedestrian walks and vignettes for outdoor seating and dining. The 2018 renovation focuses on enhancing the user experience along the pedestrian walks and fountain laden seating vignettes while seamlessly interweaving an updated rebranding effort for signage and wayfinding. The Woodland’s Central Park is receiving the most significant renovation efforts as the design team has provided an expansive IPE deck to compliment the redesigned interactive water feature and serve as a stage for the Woodland’s outdoor concert series. The existing natural grass has been removed and replaced with a new synthetic turf which, with the help of two renovated seating areas, will accommodate concert crowds and families alike. The design team provided full documentation and construction administration services for this renovation.
Process. The South Plaza at Town Center Corte Madera is the crown jewel of the recent renovation at this open air center. Arranged around a substantial existing camphor tree, this updated plaza design takes into account the gateway elements of the previous entrance and replaces them with natural, vision complementing features and bay area centric planting. The perimeter of the walk creates an elevated promenade for strolling, viewing, or sitting in the shade of the grand tree – during the day, or at night. The lower plaza embraces the existing built elements and grade transitions creating small seating areas and an informal play lawn with whimsical stone-like play features. At night is when this plaza comes alive with vibrant perforated wall lighting as well as a charming aesthetic provided by the hanging lanterns in the massive tree. The design team provided full design and documentation for this nearly 16,000 square foot plaza and creates an exclamation point on this already successful renovation.
