About. Tucked away soundly within the Texas hill country, Miraval is a health and wellness oasis. Offering several amenities to take respite from the every day, the resort offers moments dedicated to relaxation and rediscovering the senses.
Sitting on 220 acres (of protected land) overlooking Lake Travis, this lush retreat focuses on well-being, balance, sensory, and meditation.
Pool Design. Using a simple material palette of synthetic lawn, limestone, stacked stone walls, and ipe decking, the pool area offers jaw-dropping uninterrupted views all from the luxury of an infinity-edge spa. Focusing on the natural surroundings and incorporating plant palettes influenced by Austin's cultural heritage, a serene landscape creates a comfortable safe haven where it is all right to let go and relax.

Challenge. Due to the unique topography of the pool area, the design was constantly in flux trying to find a solution where the amount of retaining walls and grading impact were reduced. The specimen tree, being a main focal point of the site, needed protection around the root system yet needed to provide enough additional space for flexible programming and lounging space.
